Ladera Liquids' Evan Forbes Elected to LARCS
Evan Forbes (photo right), who runs the Ladera Liquids youth swim program, was elected to the LARCS Board last month. He received 417 votes to out poll Harry Freeman, who received 299 votes. Harry was a former non-voting LARCS Officer who was appointed to fulfill a seat vacated by Sherri LeVan when she resigned due to her relocation to another community.
A total of 39 Neighborhood Representatives were present to help in achieving quorum for the election, which was held at the Oak Knoll Clubhouse. This was one of the largest turnouts in recent memory.
Evan joins existing LARCS Board members Carol McCormick; President; Ryan Miller, Vice President; Stephanie Ramsey, Secretary; Matt Cordry, Treasurer; and Charlie Ware, Officer.
Following his election, Evan told the Ladera Times, “I would like to thank the community at large for supporting me and allowing me to serve on the LARCS Board of Directors.
“I see this new opportunity as a logical progression to the commitment of service to the community that I made when I first moved here in 2003.
“I’ve been involved behind the scenes in many different roles over the years and now I’ve made the successful move to the forefront of our community.
“My overall goal is to make a difference in how LARCS supports the efforts of fellow community service organizations, recognizing that often time these ‘front line’ groups can be even more effective in their efforts with additional support from LARCS.
“Furthermore, I believe in being transparent and accountable to both the community and the front line service organizations that directly work to support the community.
“And, finally, with this new opportunity, I pledge to work tirelessly in support of our youth programming, both academic and athletic, as I believe this will help to build a stronger Ladera Ranch.”
After the election results were finalized, Harry Freeman indicated he would like to continue on the LARCS Board as an Officer.
